tempture plunges to -37℃ in finland's kuusamo

but this year's record is decidedly balmy when compared with the lowest temperature on record in finland. on 28
january 1999, the thermometer in the meteorological institute's weather station in pokka in kittilä in western lapland read -51.5 degrees celsius.
