The government launched an initiative to draw foreign investment into the Xinjiang Uyghur Au-tonomous Region nearly a year after deadly riots rocked the capital city Urumqi, China News Service reported Sunday.

- Ten killed in train accident in spain
At least 10 people were killed after a train hit a group of youngsters who were walking across tracks at a rail station in northeastern Spain late Wednesday, local media said.
Fifteen others were wounded in the the accident at the Castelldefels Playa station near Barcelona, Spanish national radio said.
The youngsters were taking part annual Saint John's Day celebrations which fell on June 23. There is a walking underpass at the station, but those young people chose to walk on the tracks.

The Philippine military said Wednesday they would transfer former Governor Andal Ampatuan Sr., head of a powerful clan blamed for the massacre of 57 people in Maguindanao last year, to his new detention cell, upon receiving an order from the Philippine Justice Department.
