of course, they're all broken but it's the easiest thing in the world to imagine that they are whole. there's a piece of a plate with a spray of red and yellow ivy on it that is especially beautiful.

oleksandr horin by kim se-jeong staff reporter ukraine vice foreign minister oleksandr horin praised the korean government for the care given to ethnic koreans in post-soviet union states, including ukraine. the korean government takes good care of the korean descendants. it's good, horin said, referring to 7,000-8,000 ethnic koreans in ukraine living without proper documentation. the majority of them are not citizens of korea, he said, praising that the korean government still keeps the treatment of goryo sarams, ethnic koreans in former soviet union states, on the agenda when high-level officials meet for political consultations. the consultation last week was the fifth of its kind. the korean government has offered assistance to goryo sarams in ukraine who make their living as farmers by transferring agriculture knowledge or other relevant information and training them. according to government statistics, a total of 550,000 ethnic koreans currently live in former soviet union states. between 1937 and 1939, the soviet union, under joseph stalin, deported nearly 172,000 people to kazakhstan and uzbekistan, but many were purged and executed, accused of being spies for japan. in the 1990s, ethnic koreans in the soviet union fled the country. uzbek ambassador to korea vitali fen and his wife lyudmila are well-known goryo sarams in korean diplomatic circles. fens' parents were deported to uzbekistan under stalin's reign, fen once told the korea times. during an interview, vice minister horin appealed to the korean business community to consider ukraine for foreign investment, notably issuing a public invitation to lg and samsung. they trade a lot but don't invest in production, he said. embracing the 2012 ukraine-poland soccer euro cup, the country also seeks participation from the korean companies in building infrastructure and facilities. we invite you to come to share your knowledge, he said.skim@koreatimes.co.kr ★寒い日が続く
- 米紙 大々的に特集10-2デモ
organizers
said about 2,700 protestors ultimately joined the event that began in
shibuya, one of tokyo's main shopping neighborhoods, to blast what they
say has been china's overly aggressive response to the boat collision
between asia 's two biggest economies. they also criticized what they
considered the japanese government's failure to stand up to china's
pressure. the decision to release the chinese ship captain and refusal
to release the video of the collision added to the protestors'
invective.
the crowd estimate couldn't be independently verified. tokyo police
declined to make an estimate and said everything ended smoothly.
rally organizers said similar assemblies were organized in 30
prefectures nationwide as right-wing activists are firing up
nationalistic rhetoric and gaining interest that extends beyond their
normal members, showing japan's continuing sensitivity over territorial
disputes.
japan cannot stay quiet when china overreacts in such a way, so i
felt the need to participate today, said yuri kima, 28 years old, who
works in information technology. ms. kima said today's rally was the
first time she attended a political demonstration. the senkaku islands
belong to japan without a doubt, and china definitely reacted with a
much bigger stick than necessary while japan's diplomatic response was
too weak, she said.
