- 19 killed in prison clashes in Venezuela
At least 19 prisoners have been killed in the past three days in one of Venezuela's deadliest prison clashes in years, Interior Minister Tareck El Aissami said Tuesday.
Clashes broke out between two rival prison gangs Sunday afternoon in El Rodeo prison near the capital Caracas following visits by inmates' relatives to the prison, he told a local TV channel.
President Hugo Chavez has asked government officials to deal with the situation.
