世界経済フォーラム（wef）は、世界１３４カ国の男女平等度を指数化した2009年の「ジェンダー・ギャップ指数」を発表しました（日経朝刊より）

Emerging markets alone cannot drive global recovery despite their remarkable resilience in the financial crisis, former Mexican president Ernesto Zedillo told the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting on Thursday.
Large emerging economies like China, India and Brazil are seen as primary drivers of global demand for the next few years, but it is not realistic to expect these countries to sustain their current rapid growth without stronger recovery in the developed world, Zedillo said.

On arriving in Davos on Tuesday, I detected a mood of cautious optimism. Perhaps it was the snow, the sunny weather and, for some of the delegates at the annual World Economic Forum, the prospect of a bit of skiing a little later in the week. More likely, however, many of those attending were simply relieved. After all, a year earlier, the world's great and good were dreading the onset of a Great Depression Mark II, doubtless fuelled by assorted apocalyptic warnings from Nouriel Roubini, Davos's self-styled Doctor Doom. In the event, however, a Great Depression Mark II didn't materialise.
