- Seven girls killed as boat sinks in Nile river near Cairo
At least seven girls were killed when a boat sank Thursday evening on the Nile River in Egypt's Helwan Governorate, south of the capital Cairo.
The boat was carrying 19 girls, among whom eleven was saved and another one is still missing, Helwan security chief Hamed Abdallah told Xinhua.
The boat was chartered by a church in al-Maadi district for a Nile voyage and picnic, and all 19 girls were Egyptian Christians.
The small boat was overloaded and sank down as a result of unbalance.

Both history and legend track a significant throng of eager spectators following the Union army from Washington DC towards Manassas in Prince William County, Virginia to watch the Battle of Bull Run. They fully expected July 21, 1861 would be a glorious adventure; they were going to witness the southern rebellion quickly end while picnicking on a hill. As we know, things did not turn out that way; the battle was lost and the tragic war did not end quickly. This has sabre-shaped leaves with edges so sharp that they cut you like a scalpel; you feel nothing until blood starts dripping from your arms and legs.Lokon's nastiest trick, however, is hiding its crater in a cloud of sulphurous steam between two cones from which scree runs lead enticingly downhill after the stiff and bloody ascent. Discarded bottles of Bintang (Star) beer on the highest summit lull trippers into a state of complacency. It's a picnic spot for local hoodies; no need to take special care.Oh yes there is. The idea is to give travellers a breakdown for the first time of all 71 stopovers on the UK motorway network - are worth a visit according to Visit England's assessors - and which are better to drive past. Warwick, for example, is named as the best services in England for toilets (3 stars), Tebay South is the best for family outside play area (4 stars) and Beaconsfield for internal comfort (4 stars). Meanwhile, business people can decide between Strensham North and Donington Park which share the honours for business use (3 stars each).On the wooden spoon side, organisers hope that the outing of low scorers will help lead to improvements, not just locally but overall. I'm revolted by people's sentimentality about animals. Somehow, if you don't rend your very raiments at the idea of animals in pain then you're obviously 100% in favour of it, and love it, and probably practise it in secret whenever you can. God forbid that you should care about human cruelty more than animal cruelty.
