Los Angeles airport to install more full-body scanners The Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) will install more full-body scanners in an attempt to improve screening of passengers, the Department of Homeland Security announced on Friday.
The scanners, funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, are among those to be placed in 11 airports across the country by the end of the year, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said.

Toyota, US to investigate runaway Prius Toyota Motor Corp will investigate a report in California of a Prius hybrid that sped out of control. The carmaker learned that the California Highway Patrol was sent after a Prius driver in San Diego County called the emergency number 911 to report a stuck accelerator pedal, Toyota said on Tuesday. Tsunami to brush up Californian coast Tsunami-generated waves are expected to wash ashore California on U.S. west coast on Saturday, prompting authorities to urge local people to be on high alert.
San Diego County beaches will be hit by waves about two feet high at noon, and bigger waves may follow that, according to the West Coast/Alaska Tsunami Warning Center in Palmer, Alaska.
Potential tsunami wave heights are to range from two to three feet across some coastal areas, the center warned.
