i read one article that the number of japanese students who study abroad is decreasing. especially students have been avoiding to study in the u.s. recently. this article states that in the u.s., competition is very severe, so many students choose more easy way. i do not know it is true or not. but the truth is that the number of students who study in the u.s. has been decreasing. in my opinion, now in japan, many people are kind of happy to their lives. in the past, the u.s. is the very advanced country and we used to dream an american dream. however, now japan became kind of very rich country and we do not admire americano life. we can get almost anything we want in japan. japanese salary is almost same as in the u.s. of course, many top executives in the u.s. are earning much more money than japanese executives. but there are very few people who are earning such big money. so maybe many japanese students are thinking that there is almost no merit to study in the u.s. to study in the u.s., students have to spend much more money than in japan. i spend more than $70,000 for getting mba at texas tech. in japan, tuition of waseda university mba (i think top5 university in japan.) is about $45,000. living expense may be around $20,000, so total expense may be around $65,000. well, cost is almost same, but you know, texas tech mba is not ranked in top 50 in the u.s. top 50 university mba’s total cost in the u.s. is more than $100,000. it is too expensive!!! well, there are many reasons why japanese students do not come to the u.s. but i think everyone should study abroad at least one time. studying at unt was my life changing experience. i hope many japanese will broaden their point of view and understand what other countries people are thinking.
