- Gabonese parliament discusses lifting of opposition leader immunity
The Gabonese parliament met on Wednesday to discuss the issue of lifting the parliamentary immunity of opposition member Andre Mba Obame.
Obame, the executive secretary of the National Union (NU), on Jan. 25 declared himself as the country's president and formed his government.
Obame has contested the victory of incumbent president Ali Bongo Ondimba, who was elected on Aug. 30, 2009.
After taking the oath of office, Obame's party was dissolved.
