Singapore has emerged last in the latest Gallup poll of 128 countries on unaffordable housing, local media reported Friday.
The global survey by polling agency Gallup covered 1,000 or more respondents in each country, and only 1 percent of Singaporeans said there had been times over the past 12 months when they did not have enough money to provide adequate shelter for themselves and their families.
Denmark was the second last at 2 percent.

In 1943 Sweden admitted nearly 8,000 Jewish refugees, mainly from German-occupied Norway and Denmark; Count Bernadotte, of the Swedish Red Cross, near the end of the war secured the release of 31,000 inmates from German concentration camps, several thousand Jews among them, who were brought to Sweden; and Raoul Wallenberg, the Swedish consul in Budapest, from 1944 onwards issued Swedish passports to thousands of Hungarian Jews, saving them from the death camps and enabling many to go to Sweden. Two Danish space enthusiasts failed in their first attempt to launch a privately built rocket. Peter Madsen and Kristian von Bengtson had hoped to send the nine-metre-long rocket 18.6 miles into the sky from a barge near the island of Bornholm. Their spokeswoman, Sophie Dalgaard, said a fuse problem had prevented the launch, but that they would try again. They have permission to launch the 1.6-tonne prototype from a military test zone until 13 September as part of the €50,000 (£41,770) Danish project. Marz and Where Dreams Go to Die take cocked glances at capitalist America while the perkier Jesus Hates Faggots pokes fun at redneck attitudes, which Grant was forced to endure as a gay child in a religious Colorado household. But the sucker punch arrived with the emotionally wringing ballads Queen of Denmark, Sigourney Weaver and Caramel, on which the 41-year-old croons like a latterday, acid-scarred Sinatra. Grant has written almost supernaturally beautiful hymns of love, despair, chaos and ultimate redemption. Around 50 top Chinese and Danish mobile Internet executives attended a forum late Sunday, exchanging ideas on the development tendency of mobile industry and the investment environment both in China and Denmark.
The forum was cosponsored by the Investment Department of Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Denmark and the Beijing-based Mobile Internet Great Wall Club (GWC).

The Nordic nations together would have economic and political clout – if they could overcome their fierce independent spiritsToday the leaders of the five Nordic states are meeting to discuss the possibility of creating a Nordic federal state. Ever since the Kalmar Union of the kingdoms of Denmark, Norway and Sweden – reaching to Iceland, Greenland, the Faroe Islands, Shetland and Orkney – collapsed in 1523, the idea of reinstating some sort of a supra-national Nordic state regularly crops up. Now this old idea has resurfaced in a book the Swedish history professor Gunnar Wetterberg submitted to the Nordic Council in Reykjavik today.Wetterberg argues that together the Nordics (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden, with the three micro territories the Faroe Islands, Greenland and Aland), will be stronger and more stable and prosperous than they are on their own. After Sweden and Finland joined Denmark in the European Union in 1995, leaving Norway and Iceland in the European Free Trade Association (Efta) (and within the European Economic Area, which brings them in to the European internal market), the Nordic Council has been in search of renewed purpose. Over the last 15 years the cracks have become ever more obvious in Nordic co-operation: it has been downgraded to cover soft policy issues such as culture, while economics and other hard policy has been transferred to the European level.With a joint government and a parliament based on a common constitution, the federal Nordic state should concentrate on foreign policy and defence, the economy and the labour-market, and research, leaving most other policy areas to the regional authorities in Copenhagen, Helsinki, Oslo, Reykjavik and Stockholm.
