- Guinea electoral commission declares Conde winner of run- off
Guinea's National Independent Electoral Commission (CENI) announced on Monday night that Alpha Conde had won the country's second round of presidential elections.
Conde got 52.52 percent of the votes cast, beating his challenger Cellou Dalein Diallo, who got 47.48 percent of the tally in the Nov. 7 run-off race.
The winner of the presidential elections was known four months after the country held the first round held on June 27.

- Poland's Supreme Court confirms validity of presidential elections
The Supreme Court of Poland on Tuesday officially confirmed the validity of the second round of presidential elections held on July 4, paving the way for the swearing-in of President-elect Bronislaw Komorowski.
The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 6, as decided at a joint meeting of both chambers of Polish parliament.
