Heavy rains and landslides leave 20 dead and many missing as flooded rivers and collapsed bridges hamper rescue operationsAt least 20 people have been killed and 50 others missing in Japan after the country's western coast was hit by typhoon Talas on Sunday.The typhoon has unleashed heavy rains, triggering landslides, and is slowly moving north. The government has ordered evacuation of 460,000 people in western and central Japan. Hundreds of people are still stranded as the rescue efforts are being hampered by flooded rivers and collapsed bridges, local agencies report.The typhoon has caused record amount of rainfall in some areas, making it the worst storm to hit the country since 2004.Talas has damaged Nijojo castle, designated as an important cultural treasure and a popular tourist attraction in the ancient city of Kyoto.Public broadcaster NHK showed a bridge swept away after torrential rain. People holding umbrellas waded through knee-deep water in city streets and residential areas. Many cars were washed away in the floods.Japan's meteorological agency warned of more heavy rains, strong winds, floods and landslides. Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Thursday inaugurated Agus Martowardjojo as the country's new finance minister at the State Palace here, asking him to continue reforms in the Southeast Asia's largest economy.
Martowardjojo replaced Sri Mulyani Indrawati who is to join the World Bank as one of three managing directors on June 1.

- Colombian president reveals FARC's orders to kill deserters
Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos said on Saturday that e-mails of Mono Jojoy, a former and dead leader of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), have showed an increase of killings within the guerrilla group for desertions.
Santos said that several FARC leaders ordered execution of at least 13 guerrillas who wanted to demobilize. The information is contained in at least 213 documents found in Mono Jojoy's computers after he was killed last September.

Jorge Briceño, the chief military commander of Farc, the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, was killed in a military raid on a guerrilla stronghold in Colombia's eastern plains, the army said.Briceño, known by the nom-de-guerre Mono Jojoy, was a member of the group's seven-man ruling secretariat, and was responsible for a string of attacks on security forces throughout the 1990s.His death would be the biggest blow yet to the Farc, which has lost several top commanders in recent years.
